New Media Meeting
We had the privilege to take part in this year’s exhibitions at New Media Meeting in Norrköping. We presented our projects Comments.se and Out of the Box, and it turned out to be a great forum for expressing our ideas and thoughts. We managed to reach out to alot of people and it was a great event in all aspects. The international artists were truly inspirational, especially Zachary Lieberman and Theodor Watson made a huge impact on the whole event, holding a workshop in openFrameworks, a one-hour lecture each, two performances and an installation in the lobby. They showed the famous laser-tag and of course it became very popular, it worked amazingly well. Their portfolio shows great diversity in many ways, and each of their projects is always very well executed, both technically and interaction-wise. More people should really check them out.
Karolina Sobecka took us for a ride in her mobile installation called wildlife, where an animated tiger is projected through the side window of a car onto the buildings on the street. The projected tiger is hooked up with the car’s computer so its movement corresponds to the speed of the car - a simple way to create magic in the urban districts of Norrköping (or wherever it is presented), check out David's video from inside the car.
Another international act giving a talk at the meeting was Greyworld, who presented their background and a portfolio that consisted of very impressive work. They made a park fence that played Girl from Ipanema if you dragged a stick against it - such a fabulous idea.
Other than that we met a lot of interesting people, great DJs and VJs and artists. Thanks to everyone who were there!
On the way back home we discussed the possible occurence of guerrilla skiing in Stockholm this winter.
